We uploaded some of the presentation videos of the 4th KUIP.

Invited speakers' presentations are to be uploaded with their permission on Kyoto-U OpenCorseWare(OCW) as soon as they are ready. As for the Japanese lecturers’ presentations, simultaneous English translation delivered at the symposium is uploaded on EN:Video, in OCW website. The original presentations of Japanese invited speakers are open on JP:Video. Also, overseas speakers' presentations are simultaneously translated into Japanese, and are available on JP: Video.

Dr. Emmanuelle Charpentier (Director, Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology), who is an invited speaker of the 3rd KUIP symposium, was awarded 2017 Japan Prize on April 19, 2017.

Symposium date and invited Speakers of the 4th KUIP are decided.

Thank you for waiting! Now, the outline of the 4th Kyoto University-Inamori Foundation Joint Kyoto Prize Symposium (KUIP) has been fixed. This year, under the umbrella theme “Art, Science and Technology to Inspire Dreams and Adventure”, the symposium will be held on July 1-2 at the Kyoto University Clock Tower Centennial Hall, the same venue as the previous symposia.
The symposium consists of three half-day sessions as follows:

  • (1)Materials Science and Engineering
    span.indent(Organizers: Professor Susumu Noda & Junior Associate Professor Yoshinori Tanaka)
  • (2)Earth and Planetary Sciences, Astronomy and Astrophysics
    (Organizers: Professors Shigeo Yoden & Kazunari Shibata)
  • (3)Theater, Cinema
    (Organizers: Professor Shoko Suzuki & Mr. Oriza Hirata)

as well as the opening ceremony and the closing wrap-up session.
We have invited the most prominent and distinguished experts in the world in the above three academic fields.

Professors Tasuku Honjo and Takeo Kanade are announced to be laureates of 2016 Kyoto Prize.

On June 17, 2016 Kyoto Prize Laureates were announced. Prof. Tasuku Honjo, who is an invited speaker of this year's KUIP symposium, is announced to be a laureate of 2016 Kyoto Prize in life sciences. Prof. Takeo Kanade of Carnegie Mellon University, who was an invited speaker at the first KUIP symposium, is also announced to be a laureate of 2016 Kyoto Prize in information science. We would like to congratulate both of them on their winning of 2016 Kyoto Prize from the bottom of our heart.
